Brooklyn Nets

A brief history and introduction of the team:

The Brooklyn Nets are a professional basketball team based in Brooklyn New York. They are a part of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, and a member of the National Basketball Association (NBA). There are only two NBA teams with home court in New York, the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks.

Founded in 1967, the Nets originally called New Jersey home, known as the New Jersey Americans. During the Nets initial years, they were not stable and relocated multiple times. In 1968, they moved to Long Island and played in several different arenas, as they did not have a permanent home. One great asset of the Nets was the leadership of Hall of Famer, Julius Erving. Erving helped the Nets win multiple titles.

In 1977, the Nets moved back to New Jersey. This was a tough time for the Nets, as they did saw many defeats. The Nets played 35 seasons in New Jersey, returning to New York in 2012. The New York Knicks are the Nets active rivals. This rivalry is, basically, because both teams are in New York. Social media sometimes calls this rivalry the “Clash of the Boroughs.”

The Boston Celtics are also rivals of the Nets. This rivalry started around 2000 mainly due to the team’s locations and the team’s members. The Nets had Jason Kidd, while the Celtics boasted the talents of Paul Pierce. The rivalry advanced to the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals. The rivalry was further fueled by the ensuing trash talk by both camps. Soon the fans started getting more involved in this rivalry and started passing derogatory comments to opposing team members.

Past Achievements:

Championships (ABA)
The Nets have won two ABA Championships, in 1974 and 1976. Both of these championships came under the leadership of Julius Erving.

Division titles (ABA)
The Nets have won two division titles, in 1974 and 1975.

The Nets have won four division titles in the NBA. Three of those division titles were won consecutively from 2002 to 2004, and the latest one was won in 2006.

Team Today

The Nets are a very hard working team that takes calculated risks and makes moves logically. Due to this reason the club has been able to come out of downturns, turning them into successes.

Since 2012, the Nets have called, the 17,000 capacity, Barclays Center home. The stadium has a nice bar and decent dining opportunities where the people can relax, as well. It is also very convenient to get around as the transport is available nearby, and finding a way inside the stadium is not too hard.

Former NBA All Star player, Jason Kidd, is the current coach of the Brooklyn Nets. The team has big names on their playing roster as well, most notably Anderson Alan, Joe Johnson and Terry Jason.
