Brief History:

The Chicago White Sox began as a minor league and it played in the Western League. It was previously known as the Sioux City until 1894 when Comiskey decided to own the Sioux City team. He bought it and in the coming seasons, the team had a very successful time. The name of the league was changed to the Western League in 1900. After several turn of events Comiskey renamed the team to White Stockings.

In 1901 the team was able to capture the major league pennant and soon the name of the team was changed to the White Sox. At that time the team focused on pitching and defense and Ed Walsh led them during this time. In 1917, the Chicago White Sox became the World Champions. The addition of Chick Gandil and Swede Risberg helped the team in achieving the victory while Eddie Collins was the best hitter for the team. From 1922-1950 the White Sox were not able to perform as they had been doing previously. There were various factors for this downfall of the team. Although there were some very good players in the team but it was not the same until 1950 when it was rebuilt under new managers. The team again rose to win the World Series.
