Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds are the Major League Basketball team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The team is also a member of the national league central division. The reds were established as an independent club in the year 1881. In the year 1882, they became a charter member of the American association. Then in 1890, they joined the National League. The origin of the club is traced to the first openly professional team in 1869.

Although Cincinnati Reds became the member of the New National League in 1876 but the president and league organizer of the team William Hulbert was ordered by the club to make the team play games on Sunday and sell beer. Hulbert had always disliked beer and Sunday baseball, but nothing ever was practiced against the rule. 7 members of the team pledged to formally ban beer and Sunday baseball. Only the president of the team refused to sign this pledge. The other owners of the team were expelled from the National League because of the violation of the rules. The Cincinnati joined the National League successfully in 1890.

Past achievements

The Cincinnati Reds have won 5 World Series Titles, they also won one American Association pennant, 9 national league pennants and 10 division titles. They had been playing in the National League West between 1969 and 1993. They have been the member of the National League Central since the year 1994.

Since the year 2003, the Cincinnati Reds have been playing at the Great American Ball Park. It was built next to their home stadium, the riverfront stadium. The owner of the Cincinnati Reds had been Bo Castellini since the year 2006.

The home games are played at the Great American Ball Park. This stadium opened in the year 2003. It costs about 290 million dollars with the capacity of 42,271. The Hall of Fame was made a part of the tradition of the reds. This has allowed the fans to walk through the franchise’s history.

The Ohio Cup was the pre-season baseball game in which Ohio played the game against the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. This was a single game cup in the first series that was played each year in the Copper Stadium. The winner of the game each is awarded with the Ohio Cup in the postgame ceremonies. 8 Ohio Cup games were played by these rivals from 1989 to 1996. This cup restarted again in the year 2008. The current interleague series are being led by the Indians.

The Reds had to face lots of setbacks during their gaming sessions. An example of the season was that of the year 2011. They fell short of many expectations. The year 1999 was quite well played. The team won 96 games led by Jack McKeon. They lost one playoff to the New York Mets. McKeon was fired after the 2000 season, the team did not have any wins till 2010.

The overall performance history was full of bumps. When they are in a mood to play, they have the potential to win the entire season.
