New York Mets

Brief History

The New York Mets play in Major League Baseball of National League. The team was founded in 1962 in New York after the New York Giants and the Dodgers of the National League had left. The Mets was intended to replace both of them so their uniform is a hybrid of the uniforms of Giants and Dodger. Their first home ground was the Polo Ground and they played there up to 1963. After that, they changed their ballpark to the Shea Stadium and played there for about 44 years. In 2009, they left the Shea Stadium and went to the Citi Field. They have been playing home games at the Citi Field for last 4 years.

Their debuting season can be considered the worst season ever as they came up with a record of 40-120 in 1962. They never came up with any good stuff until 1969 when they defeated the Baltimore Orioles in the World Series in 1969. This was the greatest upset in the history and it earned them the nickname "The Miracle Mets" for stunning the world. They got into the World Series three more times and won it for the second time against the Boston Red Sox in 1986. In their second World Series, they lost to the Oakland Athletics and in 2000, they lost the World Series to New York Yankees.

Ater they lost to the Yankees in 2000, they returned to playoff six years later in the National League Championship Series. They were, however, not lucky enough as they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals who later grabbed the Championship.
