Portland Trail Blazers is a Portland based professional basketball team that plays in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team entered NBA in 1970. Trail Blazers turned into one of the league’s most solid franchises after going through period of expansion blues. Trail Blazers took the floor for the first time in 1970 after being selected as NBA’s Franchise of Portland. The team defeated Cleveland with 0-0 franchise record. The team has enjoyed strong following from 1977 to 1995. The Trail Blazers has sold 814 home games consecutively. Portland ruled the world of basketball in 1976-77 and claimed NBA championship. Under the reign of head coach Jack Ramsay, the four former ABA teams were brought into the NBA merger agreement. A tremendous reshuffling of players took place at that time. Reshuffling was also taken place when Portland sold Sidney Wicks to Boston.

The addition of young players, the team was strong through the first half of season. Walton and Lucas showed their talent but the game took toll with the injury of franchise’s most decorated player Walton. This relationship between the team and its fans was started in 1976-77 when team secured only NBA title. Since then, the team has been popular in Portland. They entered into the NBA finals again in 1990 and 1992. The franchise has made it thrice in NBA final.
