A Brief History and Introduction of Team:

The Washington Nationals, also known as the Nats, are a professional baseball team located in Washington, D.C. They are a part of the Major League Baseball (MLB) and play as a member of the East Division of the National League. The name of the team comes from the old baseball team of the city.

Founded in 1969, the franchise was founded as the first expansion major league baseball team from Canada. The team was based in Montreal and played at Jarry Park but eventually moved to Olympic Stadium. As a Canadian franchise they were known as the Montreal Expos. In 1981, they grabbed a Division title and went on to appear in the post-season. They, however, were not able to win the National League Championship Series.

The team kept improving and in the 1994 season, it was the best baseball team of the time with the highest winning percentage in the season. The team started shedding players, which led to a decrease in the number of fans. In the 2001 season, MLB decided to revoke the franchise. In 2002, MLB purchased it and moved it to Washington in 2005.

Currently, there are only two MLB franchises that have never played in the World Series. One of them is the Seattle Mariners and the other is the Washington Nationals.
